What type of organizations does NewPath Consulting work with?

Small and medium sized organizations with 1-25 staff or volunteers find our services a good fit. These organizations don't have full time IT staff and are under $5M in annual revenue. Organizations of this size can be up and running quickly, as there is usually a very short training period.

What is value-based pricing?

A value-based pricing model sets the price of its offerings based on the value it generates for the customer, not on the cost of developing the solution. Think of your automobile gasoline as an example of a cost-based (traditional) pricing model. The price of the gas stays fixed regardless how much of value the gasoline delivers for you. NewPath Consulting is built ground up on a value-based pricing model. NewPath Consulting continues to benefit if and only if our customers truly benefit. And vice-versa.

What is the history of NewPath Consulting?

Alex Sirota, founder of NewPath Consulting, started NewPath Consulting in 2010.  Alex believes that small businesses and organizations can benefit from automation, and modern software services can enable small businesses to grow and compete in the 21st century like never before. Unfortunately most organizations are under-served by complex and customized technology bought as "silver bullets" to business model challenges. Consulting vendors rarely take into account the business model of their customers, forcing them to take on too much risk with very custom-coded solutions, high up front fees, leaving businesses to extract value from systems and automation on their own. We believe that a company can operate mostly "virtually". Our services are created by startups all over North America and our staff work virtually as well with regular virtual checkins via Slack and Zoom, our collaboration services of choice. We also believe in the concept of "free agency" as a new way to think about the cost overhead of running a service business. These ideas are best described in great detail in the books Free Agent Nation and Drive by Dan Pink.

Service

Why should I use a particular service?

Each of our software partners address or solve a particular set of business needs.

In addition, each of the above services provides a Web API (Application Programming Interface) that can be used to combine (aka “orchestrate”) services to meet just about any business need.

Do you train staff or volunteers on how to use the service(s)?

Yes, we train you and your team fully on using our services. Additionally, we regularly add educational articles on our blog. Each of the software services we support also has an excellent help system with documents and videos for you to review and learn from.

What happens if something goes wrong with one of our software services providers?

All NewPath Consulting software services are run by professional software vendors who provide a very high level of service and reliability. Our partner vendors regularly backup your data for easy access. Unfortunately, if you accidentally erase or delete some information from these services, you may lose data. In certain situations you may be able to undo or recover the information. The services NewPath Consulting selected have easy ways to make copies of files and data as a backup. NewPath Consulting always offers support at our support portal. You can look at the uptime statistics for our services there as well.

What if one of the NewPath Consulting service providers discontinues their service?

Our software partners have thousands of customers each. We do not see them discontinuing their service anytime soon even if they are acquired or merge with another company. However, if they decide to sunset their service, we will ensure that you have plenty of time to export your data. And we will help you migrate to an alternative solution in a timely manner.

What if a feature we want is not available in a software service?

Our experience shows that any major business objective can be implemented in our recommended software services. If a specific feature you think you need is not present in the software service, we work to find equivalent solutions.

We have strong relationships with software service providers. We can also escalate your request through our partner support channels or request that a required feature be added to the service.

Are you available 24/7 if I need any quick help using the service?

Normally we provide support via our Slack system during regular business hours (9am-5pm Eastern Time), but we have staff across North America that can cover multiple time zones as well.

Can I upgrade or downgrade any time?

Yes. Upgrading and downgrading plans is a normal process and usually happens when your business grows as a result of direct value NewPath Consulting has added.

Downgrading can also mean that value is not being generated for your business as expected, and we'll be happy to investigate the reasons. We will then provide a recommendation. The ideal path is to upgrade to the next plan, as your organization continues to become more successful.

If I want to use a solution that you don't support, will you make it available for me?

No, we will most likely not adopt a new software service until we evaluate it thoroughly. We choose services on 2 factors: ease of use and excellence of customer support. This means that we have to evaluate not just the service but the company behind the service as well. This may take several months or years to do well. If our clients want a particular service, we'll be happy to integrate it into our care plans after doing our thorough evaluation.

Will you help customize a solution for our business?

Of course. The software services evolve over time as each vendor continues to improve their functionality independently of NewPath Consulting. The implementation for your business needs is entirely custom and is set out during the objective setting exercise we undertake. This exercise starts with our short questionnaire and free 30 minute consultation.

Do you keep your clients up to date? How?

Yes. It's our duty and privilege to keep our clients fully informed of account related information, service updates and important announcements. We send a monthly newsletter to provide educational information. Any account related information is communicated timely through Slack.

Policies

What is your cancellation policy?

Accounts can be cancelled with a 30-day notice period. We need at least one billing period to ensure your data and web content have been transferred to you successfully and you can continue operating the services on your own. Should you need more time, we are happy to lengthen this process to 60 or 90 days.

What is your billing policy?

You pay a single care plan fee in advance every month or every year using your credit card or your PayPal account. You will receive an automated bill from our billing service. If you require alternative payment mechanisms such as cheque or quarterly billing cycles, we would be happy to explore these options but that is not the preferred billing approach. We handle all billing relationships with each vendor and scale up the services as required at no extra cost to you. We also take care of domain name registration(s) as part of each plan.

What is your privacy policy?

Our privacy policy is available including links to the privacy polices and terms of service from our software services (aka "Licensors").

Is there a contract for your services?

There is no minimum time commitment for services on our business success plan. A consulting services agreement  including the scope of services will be signed by both the NewPath Consulting and the customer prior to commencement of work.

What happens if I decide to cancel one month into our work together? 3 months? 18 months?

You can cancel your care plan anytime you want. We will stop the billing after a notice period of 30 days. Business value is generated with NewPath Consulting services after a certain amount of time. While you may get all the value out of the relationship in the first month, we think you will stay with the services for the long haul. Valuable results start to be seen after a mutually beneficial relationship is obtained, which usually takes at least 6-18 months.

Payments

Do you offer any bulk discounts?

The plans are designed for each business as they mature from 0 to 25 employees. You should start at the plan that is most comfortable for your business. We think you will find that our prices are very competitive against hiring a traditional programmer or computer consultant. In some cases we can provide a discount if you pre-pay for 1 year of a care plan.

Do you store my credit card information?

NewPath does not store your credit card information as we use a commercial payment gateway to process all payments.

Can't we buy the individual services ourselves?

Well, of course, you can.

Evaluating a software service requires a considerable investment of time and money, and NewPath Consulting already has done the painstaking work of examining the various services that are available and determining which are the best services for small businesses and organizations. While you focus on building on your customer base, we help you lever the best software services to ensure your business is operating in tip-top shape.

You may also find that if you buy the services separately, the cost of implementation is much more than the standard monthly NewPath Consulting plan. The time involved in configuring and orchestrating the services together is rarely factored in the equation of the effective cost of these software services.

Do some solutions cost extra?

Highrise, Wild Apricot, Freshbooks and WebMerge are all priced separately from our business success plans. The pricing structure is based on number of records, administrators or some other set of factors. The other software services including WordPress, Formstack, Mad Mimi are included as part of our care plans.

How much do NewPath Consulting care plans cost?

Care Plans start from USD$239 per month. Check out all the care plans.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. The monthly care plan fee is the only payment you will be making. We don't store your credit card and won’t charge you any extra fee without your explicit approval.

What happens when I run out of consulting time allocated in my plan?

Each NewPath Consulting client has a set number of hours they are entitled to every month. If you happen to use up your hours in one month as you enjoy building your business systems, we will be happy to “borrow” the allocated time from the next month. NewPath Consulting will track the allocated time per year and let you know how close you are to reaching the allocated time for the year. You may wish to upgrade to the next NewPath Consulting plan if you find you need a lot more time to execute your dreams.

I already have a business relationship with a domain name registrar and software services. Can I keep my existing services and have NewPath maintain them?

Some customers will already have a domain name registered. They may also subscribe to one or more of the software packages we offer. In order to execute solutions quickly, it is preferable that the servoces are easily accessible, especially during times when support from the vendors is required. 

If you would like to keep administrative control, you will be required to delegate access to the services we need to maintain. If this is impossible, the services will need to be transferred to NewPath Consulting. At cancellation of a NewPath Consulting plan, these services can be transferred back to you.  At that point all billing relationships will revert back to the customer and payment by NewPath Consulting for these services will discontinue.
