I formed NewPath
in 2001 as a way to enjoy the company of other independent freelance
consultants. At the time,
I was running my own freelance project management company called eBugz.com
to help not for profits realize the value and benefits of technology.
I needed (and wanted) help with parts of projects I did not or could
not do. To my surprise, there were many independent consultants working
in all areas of expertise in Toronto.

My vision for NewPath is simple:
our group is a catalyst for people and organizations to identify their needs
and how they can fit together. The fit is either through exploratory projects
like PACTION, through
volunteer projects like DAREarts
fundraising or through projects that pay. We're not a recruitment company
- so don't look to NewPath to bring projects to you on a silver platter.
It won't happen.

In
order for our group to work, we must seek each other out, network
at a deep level, and learn about each other's strengths and weaknesses.
Opportunities are everywhere, but most don't know how to find them.
My hope is that NewPath will make it easier for independent consultants
to connect and find opportunities where none appear to exist. I
also hope that you can make some friends and good business partners
in this group. I know I have and I hope you will as well.
